Lottery Applications for the 2022-2023 School Year are available! If you have a child or sibling that will turn five years old by August 31, 2022, please complete an application available in our main office or online at https://learningfirstcharter.org/admission/ . The application deadline is March 2, 2022. All applications require a birth certificate and two proofs of address. Reminder, a new application must be completed for any child that is on the current waitlist. Reminders from the School Nurse: This week we have had 5 cases of Covid-19 in our school.  If your student was a close contact then you were notified by the school nurse. It is not required for your child to receive a Covid-19 vaccine, however if your child has had it and you are willing to let us know it would be appreciated and helpful in cases when we need to do contact tracing.

We will not be posting on the television news station sites. You must look for Worcester Public School on the local television news station sites. Extracurricular Activities:  The Girls Basketball‘s next game is not until January 2, 2022 at 2:00 PM.

The Boys Basketball Team’s next game is December 17 at 7:30 PM.

All basketball games will be held at Venerini Academy located at 27 Edwards St. Entry fees are as follows: $5 per Adult and $1 per student (players are free)

Girls’ practices are on Monday and Wednesday from 4:00-6:00 PM.

Boys’ practices are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00-6:00 PM.   

Parent pick up is on Gage Street at 6:00 PM sharp. Please encourage your student athlete to bring an extra water bottle to practice. 

                The Stomp Team performance at the Friendly House Christmas Showhas been cancelled.

Stomp practice is on Fridays from 12:45-3:30 PM sharp. Parent pick-up is on Eastern Ave. Please remember your $2.00 dues.

Community Connections: The Worcester Union Girls Winter Basketball League is having tryouts and registration on Sunday, December 19^th at Venerini Academy located at 27 Edwards St. Grades 3-5 tryouts are from 10:00-11:00 AM and grades 6-8 are from 11:00-1:00 PM. Registration fee is $20.00. Masks are required and please bring your own basketball (if you have one).  For more information please call Coach Tony (508)615-9749.

Ice skating on the Worcester Common Oval is back! The Oval is located at 455 Main St. behind City Hall on the common and has music, skate rentals, concessions, holiday lights and more.  The regular hours of operation are Fridays 5:00-9:00 PM and Saturdays and Sundays from 1:00-6:00 PM. The hours during school vacation week are from 1:00-6:00 PM and Friday from 1:00-9:00 PM. Additionally, the Oval will be open on New Year’s Eve and New Years Day from 1:00-6:00 PM and Martin Luther King Jr., Day from 1:00-6;00 PM. It will be closed December 23^rd– 25^th. Admission for public skating is $10.00 including skate rental (children 5 and under skate free). Skaters that do not require skate rentals pay just $5.0 to enter onto the ice. Skate rentals require a $25.00 refundable deposit per skate rental.

Worcester Cares for Kids is holding a Youth Babysitting Certificate and Training Program starting January 11^th– February 10^th for local youths ages 11-14. This is a virtual training program that was created to provide critical support to young children in our community and their parents during this time. This is a FREE training and participants will receive a certification in babysitting and $100 stipend upon completion of the program.  Space is limited. Next week staff and students are allowed to dress down Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Please see below for the dress attire each day. Have fun and make school appropriate choices!

Monday- Long Winter’s Nap Day

Dress in your coziest pajamas. Stuffed animals, blankets and snuggly items cannot be brought to school. Closed toe shoes only please!

Tuesday- Winter Wonderland Day

Dress in white, blue or silver and let’s hope for some snow!

Wednesday- Holiday Cheer Day

Dress in your holiday colors or break out the tacky sweaters!

This is not mandatory and regular school uniforms should be worn if you are not participating.
